 Nicola Stein grew up on the Isle of Arran in Scotland and Tasmania. She studied Russian Language and Literature at Glasgow University, taught English in Moscow and St Petersburg for five years, and is now based on the Hebridean Isle of Islay.
Nicola has developed her own unique style using black ink, and all designs begin from the centre of the page and evolve outwards. They are usually based on broken symmetry, and convey the intertwining of opposites: curved & straight, balance & imbalance, good & evil, rise & fall, pull & push, freedom & restraint, black and white.
